Why will Lucknow play in green-maroon jersey against Kolkata?

Lucknow colors are changing for one match.  Lucknow Super Giants will take to the field in the famous green-maroon colors of the city of Kolkata on the soil of Kolkata.  The opponents are Kolkata Knight Riders.  Lucknow is changing their blue jersey only for this one match.  The team confirmed their jersey change on social media.

 On Saturday, Lucknow announced their jersey change on their X (former Twitter) handle.  It read, "New colors for the big match." In Bengali script, "See you tomorrow." A collage of several cricketers accompanied the post.

 Captain Lokesh Rahul, Krunal Pandya, Naveen-ul-Haq, Marcus Stoinis, Quinton de Kock, Ravi Bishnoi and Nicholas Pooran participated in the photo shoot in green and maroon jerseys.

 The reason for such a change for one match is to garner the support of Kolkata people and make their presence known.  Mohun Bagan is one of the biggest clubs in Indian football.  One of the oldest clubs in Asia, this club is an integral part of Kolkata.  And it is owned by Sanjeev Goenka.  Who is also the owner of Lucknow Super Giants.  Lucknow will play in the traditional maroon-green jersey of Mohun Bagan.

 Several European clubs have invested in Indian football since 2014.  The Spanish giant Atlético Madrid came to Kolkata on that basis.  In the first season of the ISL they were called Atletico de Kolkata.  Later in 2017, ATK Group merged with Mohun Bagan.  From that time, Sanjeev Goenka became the owner of Mohun Bagan.

 Then he bought the shares of Atletico Madrid himself.  Mohun Bagan became 'Mohun Bagan Super Giants'.  Lucknow will enter the field matching the Mohun Bagan jersey on Kolkata soil.

 However, this is not the first time that Lucknow is changing its jersey.  Lucknow cricketers wore the green-maroon jersey in this Eden last time against KKR.  It was KKR's last match in the group stage.  Kolkata had to win that match by a big margin to win the playoffs.  But the team lost that match.
