Villa extended the contract with Emery
English club Aston Villa has extended the contract with manager Unai Emery. On Tuesday (April 23), Villa announced in a statement that he will remain as coach until 2027.
When Emery took over Villa in November 2022, the team were 16th in the Premier League. They turned out great under his coaching. The league finished seventh that season. Placed in the UEFA Conference League. After the 2010-11 season, the team got the opportunity to play in the European competition for the first time.
After the extension, Emery said: 'We are thoroughly enjoying the way forward with the Villa supporters, club owners, management and players. We are proud of that. Me and the football management... we work towards the goals of the owners.'
Villa have been in great form since the start of this season. Villa, once in the race for the league title, are now fourth. In order to qualify for the Champions League next season, they must be in the top four. They are well in that race.
Since 1992, when the European Cup was renamed the Champions League, Aston Villa have not played in the tournament. It is very certain that they have the possibility to play in the Champions League next season.
Meanwhile, Emery's team has reached the semi-finals of the Conference League. They will face Greek side Olympiakos as they look to reach the final of a European competition for the first time since 1982.
