Former champion Leicester City returned to the Premier League
Leicester City lost their place in the English Premier League by finishing 18th in the 2022-23 season. This season the Premier League side are playing in the EFL Championship, the second tier of English football.
Leicester returned to the Premier League after a great performance in the second tier. They will play in the Premier League next season.
In the 2015-16 season, Leicester won the Premier League title in a fairytale.
However, the team could not maintain that performance over time. As a result, they lost their place and went down to the second level. In this year's EFL Championship, Leicester is at the top with 94 points from 44 matches.
On the other hand, Leeds are second in the points table. Their points are 90 in 45 matches.
From here Leeds can no longer touch Leicester. Third-placed Ipswich has 89 points from 43 matches.
If they win their remaining two matches, they have a chance to overtake Leicester. However, there is no chance for Leicester to go to the top.
Leicester's Premier League is confirmed with Leeds United's loss. Leeds lost 4-0 to Queens Park Rangers last night. In this, Leicester is confirmed to be in the top two with one match left.
