More bad news for Barcelona after the loss
Barcelona have just been eliminated from the Champions League after losing to Paris Saint-Germain. In the meantime, another bad news has come. The Spanish club does not have a chance to be in the FIFA Club World Cup as it is lagging behind its rival club Atletico Madrid. An even bigger blow for struggling Barcelona.
Barcelona's departure confirmed Atletico Madrid's place in the new 32-team FIFA Club World Cup. The 32-team FIFA Club World Cup will be held in the United States next year. There are 12 clubs allocated for Europe. Of which 11 are confirmed. Arsenal or Salzburg can take place as the remaining team.
Barcelona and Atletico Madrid lost their respective matches in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals last night. Barca lost to PSG 4-1. 6-4 on aggregate. And Atletico Madrid lost the match 5-4 aggregate to Borussia Dortmund. However, considering the past success, Atletico Madrid secured the place.
In the 12-team selection, FIFA is choosing the team that is relatively higher than the four-time Champions League winners. As such, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester City have confirmed their place in the Champions League winners bracket. Bayern Munich, PSG, Inter Milan, Porto, Borussia Dortmund, Benfica, Juventus and Atlético Madrid have also been ranked highly.
Arsenal or Austrian club Salzburg will be the remaining team. Arsenal must win the Champions League title to qualify. Otherwise Salzburg will be seen in this global event. Because according to FIFA's scheduled slots, Chelsea and Manchester City from England have confirmed their places in Eiremakh.
Atlético Madrid secured their place as the 22nd team in this tournament of 32 teams. Next year, the Club World Cup will be held in different cities of the United States from June 15 to July 13. FIFA expects at least ten million dollars in prize money for all participating clubs.
Meanwhile, FIFA has finalized all the formats of the tournament. Due to which big clubs like Barcelona, Manchester United, Liverpool, AC Milan are not present in this tournament of huge financial rewards. Even Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nasr from the Saudi League and Messi's Inter Miami from the United States are also excluded from this tournament.
