Man City in court against Premier League
Manchester City have launched a legal battle against the Premier League seeking to overturn the Associated Party Transaction (APT) rules.
The APT introduced the rules in 2021 to ensure fair competition, preventing clubs from extending sponsorship deals with companies associated with their owners.
According to the APT rules, when entering into a sponsorship agreement with a company that has a share in the ownership of the club, the price cannot be increased at will. The contract should be in accordance with the transparent commercial value of the company.
The contract amount cannot be artificially increased. In the past, such deals have shown huge sponsorship value. Because there was no one to oppose him. It would also benefit those companies commercially.
Manchester City has objected to the Premier League rule. The city has expressed fear that the business of the club will decrease due to this rule.
City Club is owned by Abu Dhabi's ruling family and its sponsors include Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways.
