Italy's victory over the surprise of Albania
Albania put the ball into the net in the fastest time in Euro history. In just 23 seconds, that too against defending champions Italy. However, the Azzurri did not allow this surprise of the Albanians to last. Goals from Alessandro Bastoni and Nicola Barella saw them begin their mission to retain the Euro title with a 2-1 victory.
Italy get a throw-in in their own half immediately after kick-off in Dortmund. That's where Federico Dimarco made the mistake. The ball was handed to the opponent forward Nadeem Bajrami in the throw-in. The Albanian forward entered the box and did the rest with Munsiana.
Gianluigi ignored Donnarumma's obstruction and fired a powerful shot past the first post.
In response, the Azzurri scored two more outstanding goals. Ten minutes from time, Alessandro Bastoni's eye-catching header from Lorenzo Pellegrini's cross found the back of the net. Luciano Spalletti's team then took the lead in no time.
Nicola Barella made it 2-1 in the 16th minute. The midfielder scored a perfect shot from outside the box. In the end, that was the winning sign. Albania's consolation therefore stuck to the quickest goal, Italy leaving the field with the win.
