Georgia face Spain with confidence

 Georgia face Spain with confidence

Georgia made history by playing in Euro for the first time. Georgia beat Portugal 2-0 in the last match of the group stage as one of the third best teams in the group and advanced to the last sixteen. Spain is their opponent in the last sixteen.

Before this match, Georgia coach Willie Sanyol said that they are confident.

In the press conference before the match, coach Sanyol said, 'We will play in this match with a lot of confidence. Because we have nothing to lose. I think we have already won the European Championship.

I'm just excited to get on the field now.'

Georgia has played 4 matches against Spain before under this coach. They have lost all four, including two 2022 World Cup qualifiers. They were crushed 7–1 by Spain last September.

"It was a tough time for us...but you can't achieve great things without going through tough times," Sanyol said of the debacle against Spain. It was part of our journey. That 7-1 loss is what got us here. We have learned a lot from it.
