First up is Germany in the last sixteen

First up is Germany in the last sixteen

Germany beat Scotland 5-1 in the first match. In the second match on Wednesday (June 19) they beat Hungary 2-0. As a result, the team got the last sixteen ticket as the first team.

Germany has 6 points after 2 matches. If they do not become group champions or runners-up, they will go to the knockouts at least as the third team due to goal difference.

Germany and Hungary failed to go close several times in the first 15 minutes in Stuttgart on Wednesday (June 19). But Jamal Musiala did not miss the opportunity in 22 minutes. He gave Germany a 1-0 lead with Ilkay Gundogan's assist. They could have scored another goal exactly 22 minutes later. Hungary survived that trip in return for a corner. As a result, both teams went to the break with a score line of 1-0 goals.

Gundogan, the provider of the first goal, found the net in the 67th minute. Two minutes later Joshua Kimmich's shot went wide to make it 3-0. In the end, they left the field with a 2-0 victory, but with it a ticket to the knockouts of the Euros. Gundogan was the man of the match.

With this, Germany became the fourth team in the history of the Euro to win the opening two matches. France has such a feat twice, after 1984 they won their first two matches in 2016 as well. Spain in 1964 and Netherlands in 2000 have such a feat.
