Argentina will test the strength of the bench against Peru
Argentina is the first team to reach the quarter-finals of the Copa America. The Albiceleste also won against Chile on Wednesday (June 26) after winning the first match against Canada. As the quarter is confirmed, Argentina does not want to take pressure in the last match. Therefore, Argentina coach Scaloni indicated that he will test the strength of the bench against Peru in the last match of the group.
Argentina left the field with a last-minute goal win against Chile at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on Wednesday. Apart from that, the current champions also confirmed the Copa quarter finals. Next Sunday (June 30) they will play the last match of the group stage against Peru.
Manchester United's winger Garnacho did not get a chance to play in one of the two matches of the group stage. Coach Scaloni can play him in the starting eleven against Peru. Besides that, the coach also indicated that he wants to test the strength of the bench against Peru.
"We want to test him (Garnacho) because he is a young and new player," Scaloni said at the press conference after the match against Chile. Sometimes I think I can bring him down in the match. But as the match progresses, it seems that it is not a suitable match to take him down. Hopefully, when they (young footballers) are given the opportunity, they can use it.'
Meanwhile, Argentina's captain suffered a thigh injury against Chile. However, he played the entire match. But Scaloni may rest him against Peru.
