Defending champion Argentina started the journey of Copa America by defeating Canada 2-0. Canada fought with Argentina in the first half, but in the second half, Canada could not cope with the tactics of the world champions. Scaloni's disciples left the field with the victory scored by Alvarez and Martinez.

Argentina leads by 1-0. In the 79th minute, Messi got a chance to score again, this time he found the goalkeeper alone but he hit the ball outside.


 In the 88th minute, Lautaro Martinez put the team ahead 2-0 with a great finish from Messi's cross through the legs of the goalkeeper. In the end, Argentina left the field with a 2-goal victory.
